Your treatment process starts with an extensive medical specialist and multi-disciplinary diagnosis of your asthma and your general health. We also examine how your asthma affects your daily life. We look at your personal circumstances, skills and training options and the extent to which these affect your asthma.
The objectives you set yourself are an important part of your treatment plan. Each patient has his or her own story and objectives in life. The treatment plan focuses on objectives determined in consultation between you and the team.
The first objective is often to get your asthma well under control so that you suffer less from it, feel better and are less restricted.
Using your personal treatment plan, all members of the team go over the treatment objectives with you, step-by step:
- Personal consultations
Each specialist who treats you will discuss the various aspects of your asthma and your health with you, and will look for points of improvement together with you. The objective is to get your asthma well under control and later, when back in the Netherlands, maintain this using your personal asthma action plan.
- Interactive health counselling
Experience and research teaches us that when you are properly informed about the nature of your condition, you are better able to adequately deal with it. This knowledge is shared with you in regular training sessions through various disciplines during the health counselling sessions.
- Training sessions
There is considerable attention to rehabilitation through exercise and improvement of your general physical condition. This can be done through fitness, swimming, yoga, exercises and games in the gym, while at the same time there are numerous options for walking and being active in the lovely mountainous countryside.
